Domingo, Yo-Yo Ma & Susan Graham at Edward M. Kennedy’s Funeral

American mezzo Susan Graham sang "Ave Maria" in a funeral mass for the late senator in Roxbury, Boston.

Ted Kennedy and his wife, Vicki, kept classical music as a focal point in their lives. The NY Times reported:

The senator proposed to her [Victoria Reggie Kennedy] in January 1992 at a performance of “La Bohème” at the Metropolitan Opera in New York — a love of opera was a passion they shared.

Placido Domingo and Yo-Yo Ma also performed, teaming up for Cesar Franck's "Panis Angelicus".

Last weekend's Gala concert for Caramoor's 64th International Music Festival -- with cocktails, dinner, a performance in the Venetian Theater, and an after-hours party with desserts and dancing -- kicked-off the six week music festival in Katonah, NY.

The first of the two concert-version operas, L’Elisir d’Amore, exited to great reviews, thanks to Will Crutchfield's inspired conducting and perfect leads Georgia Jarman and Lawrence Brownlee.

Set Your DVRs: Susan Graham on Today's Martha Stewart Show

 

American mezzo Susan Graham will make a her second appearance on The Martha Stewart Show for a special Mother's Day episode.

Susan and the Domestic Goddess will be baking a lemony angel food cake together, and then Susan will pimp Ned Rorem's "11 Songs for Susan", which she'll be singing on May 11 at Carnegie Hall.

In New York City, Susan Graham on The Martha Stewart Show can be seen on WNBC (Channel 4) at 11am on Friday, May 8, 2009.
