While the readers on the blabbermouth boards are complaining that he sold out to TEH MANG, we applaud the newest Music Director of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Pietari Inkinen. The 27-year-old Finnish conductor could be chastised for ditching his former penchant of \m/ playing heavy metal guitar \m/, but as the youngest conductor to hold court at the NZSO since the 1950s, we think he has his priorities straight. He will begin leading the NZSO in January 2008 -- but let's just hope his tastes don't wander back to [insert crappy, washed-up, heavy metal band here].
He’s the latest bright-eyed thing to be drafted into Top Secret Proposition T182: SHAKEDOWN FRESH MEAT CYPHER, trailing Gustavo Dudamel’s recent LA Philharmonic appointment and Yannick Nézet-Séguin’s Rotterdam Philharmonic newest stint.
