The definitive schedule for the 49th Festival Pianistico Internazionale of Brescia and Bergamo has been rolled out, titled "Brahms, the conservative progressive" in homage to the complex character of the German composer.
The festival opens on April 26 with a 8pm concert at Brescia's Teatro Grande with Riccardo Muti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestram, with [a non-Brahms program of] Nino Rota's Il Gattopardo Suite, Strauss' Death and Transfiguration (Tod und Verklärung) and Dmitrij Šostakovič's Fifth Symphony.
Fifteen concerts in Brescia and thirteen in Bergamo run until June 13, finishing with a celebratory concert in Bergamo devoted to Debussy's 150th birth year.
