La Repubblica posts a clip (below) of pop violinist Josh Vietti (lol at 2:50's jig dance) "Alzate il volume, il violinista hip-hop vi stupirà" about the West Coast musician. After picking-up the violin at age 4, he combined his musical skills with his love of hip-hop and took it to the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica where he performed for pocket change until he was courted by big-time producers. His new CD "Street Violin" combines Kanye and /ugh/ Chris Brown /ugh/ with strings.
The hip-hop violinist genre is expanding, but like Miri Ben-Ari and Paul Dateh (and recently Hahn-Bin), we're behind anything classical that shakes our rump.
