When it rains it pours on badly-strapped-for-cash Italian opera houses: Italian newspaper La Repubblica reports that Italian tax police has fined Fondazione Teatro Massimo, the foundation that runs Teatro Massimo di Palermo, because of irregularities in their mandatory payments toward ENPALS retirement savings plan. The Foundation will have to pony up from a minimum of 1.55 million euro to a maximum of 4 million.
Teatro Massimo, of course, was the location for the epic finale of Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather III.
The scene is below, and it contains a massive spoiler if you haven't seen the movie.
