OC is slowly recovering from last night's Mega-Prima, ~Diablo Dante's~ new production of Carmenthat opened Teatro alla Scala's 2009/10 season and which exited to boos for the production team's portrayal of a dark, bitter heroine trapped in a misogynistic world full of hairpulling and violence. OC will share her thoughts in a bit, but in the meantime, enjoy the following photos of random celebrities and ambiance of last night.
Among the lawyers and politicians with the requesite +1s looking like college co-eds, we had in the house Marina Berlusconi, daughter of Silvio; aging socialite Marta Marotto; Letitia Moratti, mayor of Milan; Fiat VP John Elkann; Saif al Islam, son of Gaddafi; Prez of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano; Domenico Dolce (the other half of Gabbana) with his boyfriend Massimiliano; Dan Brown looking like a kid in a candy store; Umberto Eco who was seen democratically weathering Dan Brown; and of course, no night at Scala's la prima is complete with that woman of complete grace and stunning, natural beauty, Miss Valeria Marini. Placidone was there, too, in Milan for Scala's tribute to him tomorrow night and artfully dodging the paparazzi.
