A healthy mix of opera-for-the-people people and NYC socialites greeted New York City Opera's Opening Night Gala last night in Lincoln Center, where George Steel's ambitious initiatives for the newly renovated David H. Koch theater raised two million dollars, the most lucratively-successful opening night in New York City Opera's 50+ years.
