Caramoor's Bel Canto program hosted their fifth annual luncheon at The Union Club earlier this week, where Caramoor cheerleaders and the program's ascendant stars gathered to sing the praises of the daredevil, Italian coloratura artform and celebrate Caramoor's unique program, which since 1997 has been bringing the works of Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini (and sometimes Verdi) to the masses. Director (and former NYTimes columnist, vocal coach, and all around intuitive conductor) Will Crutchfield and the Bel Canto Young Artists gave an intimate recital with arias from Mozart, Donizetti, and Bellini, tiding over the bel canto junkies who will have to wait until next summer for Caramoor's 14th season of the Bel Canto Festival. OC was in attendance for this past summer's festival, where Philip Gossett's critical edition of Rossini's Semiramide triumphed.
