W Magazine -- bastion of all things provocative and alluring to fashion & beauty -- always takes precedence on our walnut & glass Isamu Noguchi coffee table, battling for precious real estate with The New Yorker (we'll forever need our Signor Ross), imported Japanese Non-no (OC grew up dazzled between the bubblegum & plaid pages), Tank, Italy's IL and Style - Corriere della Sera, Vogue Nippon, FedEx'd copies of the culture pages from Neue Zürcher Zeitung that is otherwise, sadly, unavailable to US readers.
And as novel it is to get a huge write-up in Vogue (we're big Conde fans notwithstanding and really, unbridled hurrahs are best left for Dudamel), nothing really beats a mention in the incomparable W magazine. It's only fitting that the understated glamor of young American mezzo, Isabel Leonard, was featured for "Five minutes with opera it-girl Isabel Leonard" in this month's edition where she talks about stage fright, jazz, and husband Teddy Tahu Rhodes ("a hunky baritone who's known as the Brad Pitt of the opera world"). We can feel the throbbing heat from TTR's blushing all the way from here. Read the Q&A online here, and kudos to Isabella.
