Here's a clip from last night's "Great Voices in Kremlin" Opera Gala from Moscow's Red Square. The high-profile event starred a mic'd-up Anna Netrebko ('tho the Russian singer showed that microphone who's who!), Paata Burchuladze, Olga Borodina Russian mezzo Julia Gertseva stepped-in for Borodina, and Segey Skorohodov with the Russian National Orchestra conducted by Mikhail Pletnev.
Billed as a charitable event, tickets started at $100 and went until 38,500.00 RUB, or, a cool 1,200.00 USD. Such a drenching downpour dampened the Moscow sky that the concert was delayed 40-minutes, while concert-goers reported a maddening scene of [barely] organized chaos.
The program included arias from Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov, Prokofiev's War and Peace, Tchaikovsky's Iolanta, and Mikhail Glinka's Ruslan and Lyudmila.
