The Proms, for all their occasional loopiness, have often given us classical music lovers unforgettable executions; the example that is dearest to Opera Chic's heart is this Rossini Stabat Mater, conducted by the late great Carlo Maria Giulini, at the Proms in 1981: it doesn't really get any better than that.
