Ok, it's a painfully-campy variety show, so we weren't expecting much. But the last two times Rolando Villazón was on ZDF's Wetten Dass...?, we saw him first ride a mechanical bull and second, don chain mail to sing with the German cast of Spamalot. And we rejoyced in his giddy spirit.
This time ~der Superstar der klassischen Musik~ Rolando was sandwiched between a boring selection of odd guests, including the cast of an off-off-off Broadway German Spamalot (during which he bench-warmed instead). Instead of bull-riding and jazz hands, Rolando's agenda was to promote his new George Frideric Händel disc, "Händel", which he did via noticeable ~enhancement~ for Act 1's Tamerlano aria, "Ciel e terra armi di sdegno".
