Dick Cheney -- who's in Italy for a short and sweet, low-key trip, unencumbered by annoying celebrity duties such as having to deal with the presence of 200,000 people in a big square cheering him like crazy -- didn't exactly go to la Scala the other night, but he dined one block away from the august opera house. The VP had dinner among vintage opera memorabilia at Don Carlos restaurant, right next to the Grand Hotel Et De Milan where Giuseppe Verdi died (he had not been shot by the Vice President, btw).
