Thanks to much-needed government budget cuts for arts organizations, Opera Santa Barbara is searching for 34 host families who will offer their homes for 5 weeks (from Mid-February through mid-March, 2009) to traveling singers, directors, and techs contracted by OSB for the 2008/09 season.
For just pennies a day, one hundredth of an American dollar, you too can help an artist in need of a fold-out couch, a hot shower, and a bowl of rice. If you act now, we'll throw in a one year supply of Organic Throat Coat tea, and send you a picture of your host singer posing with Placido Domingo at some random charity event.
Say “yes” to hosting a singer, and you can transform their lives!!11!!11
(And you just wait until they raffle off the leftover cortisone inhalers).
Memo to opera administrators everywhere in the US: this is what happens when your financially shaky line of business doesn't get trilliondollar'd (ie, bailed out) by the Federal government.
