Webcruising, and OC spent a few moments at the National Federation of Music Clubs website. The NFMC, founded in 1898, with headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, holds the title as one of the world's largest music organizations, is chartered by the US Congress, and is "the only music organization member of the United Nations".
One of the aims of the NFMC is to promote leisure-time Junior Clubs, to provide an early spark of music [i am mc] lovin within diverse USA communities. We browsed a few of the Junior Clubs, and roffled well into the early hours at the clubs named with vague puns and endearing musical allusions that had us regressing to summer camp days.
Iowa's Junior Clubs showed-off their musical playfulness, with club group names such as, "Be Sharp", "Major Minors", "No Trouble Clefs", "Noteworthy Affair", "The Benchwarmers". omg whut?? O-iawah! Virginia stepped it up with the "Haydn Seekers", "Piano is our Forte Music Club", and "The Grand Staffers". Louisiana had us lolling with names like, "In-Ovations", "Clef Hangers", "Wolf Gang", "Haydn in the Keys", and the "Suite Sixteenths". ok Arnold Poindexter, put down that violin and help us find a name for our junior music club!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Srsly, ok, they’re kids…but we thought of a few in under 60 seconds and already beat their pants off. Watch me now! The 12” Batons, French (Tickler) Horns, The Trom-boners, Pink Skinflutes, Double-D Basses, omg this is waaaay too easy. They alto be ashamed of themselves!
