Whenever we think about Opera Chic's many fetishes -- for opera of course, for Leoni's roasted potatoes, for vintage Gucci midollino bags and for the silvery sound of Ferenc Fricsay's conducting -- we cannot forget our fetish for the deliciousness that is Asian cinema. And since we've already mentioned what a genius production would a Lady Macbeth directed by David Lynch be, we confess that the latest news from Cannes, that most unstylish of tourist traps, made us remember how much we'd love, love, love to see a Pelléas Et Mélisande or, even better, a Orfeo ed Euridice directed by Wong Kar-wai.
Not that it's yet clear if Blueberry Nights is as awesome as the rest of WKW's works; la critique seems confused. But we so don't care.
As soon as Stéphane Lissner becomes Minister of Culture back in France and Opera Chic takes tyrannical control of la Scala operations, we're so hiring Lynch and Wong.
