OMG OMG: La Scala is about to announce a massive program of foreign tours for la Scala's orchestra and ballet company.
The orchestra: in 2008 the orchestra will tour Russia, in late spring 2009 will tour Israel (Traviata, Daniel Oren conductor), and in September they'll tour Japan (Aida and Verdi's Requiem, Daniel Barenboim conductor, and Don Carlos, Daniele Gatti cond.).
In 2010 la Scala will tour Argentina: in Buenos Aires Daniel Barenboim will celebrate the bicentennial of Argentina's independence and the 60th anniversary of his own first piano recital: Maestro Barenboim will conduct Simon Boccanegra there, Luca Ronconi director, in the cast Carlos Alvarez and, as a baritone, Placido Domingo (the same opera, same staging and cast, will appear at la Scala and Berlin).
Barenboim, in 2008, will appear at la Scala 25 times: he'll conduct two operas + Verdi's Requiem + eight piano recitals.
The ballet company will tour Japan in June, then in July on to England (Covent Garden).
In 2008 the Company will tour the US (four major cities, as yet unknown).
