The Guardian has published an article on "the astonishingly youthful-looking 24-year-old conductor", Robin Ticciati, the new music director of "Glyndebourne on Tour", which will launch next Autumn. He also recently assumed the role of Music Director and Artistic Advisor to Sweden's Gävle Symphony Orchestra. He made history in Milan in June, 2005 when he became the youngest counductor ever to appear at Teatro alla Scala with the Filarmonica. He also did time with the Staatskapelle Dresden and the Gothenburg Symphony. I guess he doesnt have to ask his parents for allowance money anymore. A quote from the short article:
"Is he the next Simon Rattle?"
"There are similarities: both played percussion in NYO, and the mop of curls recalls the young Rattle. But Ticciati has yet to reveal a weakness for glamorous sopranos."
Oh God, I can just imagine some Mrs. Robinson axxxion going down in those rehearsal rooms. O_____O
