The famously dopey Goffredo Mameli-written Italian National Anthem, Fratelli D'Italia, has finally found a way out of musical lameness: Lifetime Achievement Oscar winner, maestro Ennio Morricone (website with music), in today's Corriere della Sera, explains that he is going to write a new orchestration for the poor, musically supercheesy & justly neglected national anthem.
In the same interview, Maestro Morricone explains that despite creating the immortal scores for Sergio Leone's spaghetti western films, he only met Clint Eastwood once, briefly, just a few years ago, on an Italian TV talk show. And a Morricone tribute album is coming soon, with artists such as, I kid you not, Renée Fleming (lolomglol), Metallica (heh), Andrea Bocelli (ok), Celine Dion (riteonok), Denyce Graves (umwhut???!!).
