New today in French bookstores: Roberto Alagna's autobiography: "Je ne suis pas le fruit du hasard".
In the book (written before the embarrassing La Scala imbroglio), the tenor fondly remembers his humble origins in a family of Italian immigrants to France, his first gigs singing in pizzerias and -- oh teh irony -- he mentions his Scala debut in 1990, when "the usually fierce audience adopted me". Regarding his choice of recording cds of operetta Alagna writes: "The true lover loves both brunettes and blondes". And even brunettes in wigs!
