We tip our Philip Treacy hat to dear & loyal reader ~fignaz~ who had sent us this excellent documentary on legendary German tenor Max Lorenz, which features commentary from contemporaries Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and René Kollo, among others.

I've had this for some time and find it absolutely fascinating-- a model of documentary film making. Especially interesting is watching singers of a different generation respond to this great artist.

Thanks. Very interesting and thought-provoking, especially the fascinating performance clips from a vanished era as well as the heartfelt reactions and comments of Fischer-Dieskau and all the other singers. And now if only we could find the tape of the complete TRISTAN, long-rumored to have been in the possession of Lorenz and/or his wife, of the 1948 Genoa performance with young Callas.
