CGIL union has launched a strike for the Filarmonica della Scala concert on December 21. The concert was the 5th concert of the 2010/11 Beethoven-Schönberg cycle that featured Schönberg's Kammersymphonie and Beethoven's Ninth, conducted by Barenboim with soloists Anja Arteros, Ekaterina Gubarova, Klaus Florian Vogt and Peter Mattei. O Freunde, nicht diese Töne!
Program variations for the concert on 21 December 2011
Due to a strike organized by the CGIL-SLC trade union, the program of the concert on 21 December will be varied as follows:
Ludwig van Beethoven
Leonore, Overture No 3 in C maj. op. 72a
Arnold Schönberg
Kammersymphonie in E maj. op.9
Ludwig van Beethoven
Concert No 5 in E flat maj. op.73 “Imperatore”
Soloist Maurizio Pollini
This is outrageous. Down with the unions.

One less boring concert with Barenboim his don Giovanni was atrocious, I imagine his Beethoven would be even heavier

Dear Maestro Barenboim, I am so sorry for you!
How they can do that!?
Music is one individual life.
Basically there are no other chances to think about more than music itself as the musicians.
It is only reason why we are musicians!

And what they want to have more?
People mixed up the democracy and the real democratic rights.
There are too many things more than music itself for the theatre managements.
And people simply believe that without these--too many things--music wouldn't be existed.
They think num. 1 is money.
Since when the musicians must go around to the world in few days or weeks one to another theatres?
Is it real global development of the arts?
Since when some of the musicians are so rich?
Since when if the payments are not good enough or the conditions of the working time etc. etc.,it became quite normal reason for the musicians to refuse to play?
If it would have happened in the past, no musicians survived with this demanding.
I don't mean to go back to the past.
I rather want to say , we must remember , once they were at least devoted to play music!
When J.S.Bach stayed in the kind of prison,
He wrote one of his most beautiful musics the --Orgel Büchlein--.
He gave the birth for the music , just for music sake in the darkness.
Music is the musician's partner.

Many people laughed at Muti when he played the piano for --La Traviata-- in the scala .
But he was right! He was a simply musician itself!
Lets see what Barenboim is going to say and do about this more than naughty scala. Noncy
