What I love about this photo - published for the first time I believe - are her glasses placed by her bag, and she's obviously just removed them (look at her gaze!). Great photo.

La divina. Heard her live five times. Thank you Maria.

Love this photo. What is that little tray for her bag? Do the boxes have those at La SCALA? And I love that it gets bigger when you click it!

La Divina..............will there ever be another like her???????? She refuses to be forgotten, and for all the right reasons! Will love her forever.

From the look on her face, she is attending a Tebaldi performance. LOL.

Wow, those glasses placed by her bag must have tremendous hidden meaning. What could it be?

@ Bill Philin-Ploplis: I'd cut off body parts to have 2 contemporaneous sopranos today of the quality & calibre of Callas & Tebaldi in their primes. Callas actually DID attend the Scala opening night of 1953 (LA WALLY with Tebaldi) and this picture looks about right --- the transformational weight loss has started but she's not yet at her thinnest. Imagine --- December 7th LA WALLY with Tebaldi & 3 nights later on December 10th MEDEA with Callas. Exciting times!

Thumbs up!

@Oroveso--I seriously doubt we will see their like again. It is almost impossible to revive Medea today--at least with that intensity and vocal frisson. And no La Wally with Tebaldi's seductive feminity of person and voice. I guess we are stuck with Handel and Vivaldi singers for the next 30 years. LOL.

She looks like a goddess - so beautiful and majestic.
It is true there will never be another one like her.
Her voice make me feel like I am listening to something heavenly.
Thanks you for enriching my life Maria!!!

If those are the tails of the minks who sacrificed their lives for her stole on her left, are their heads on her right?
