Amanda Ameer's Life's A Pitch has a breakdown of that Renee Fleming/Law & Order guest appearance that was hyped, but never actually happened. We're with Fleming on this one, for good reason, since apparently, it insinuated that opera singers typically enjoy their cocktails straight up their a$$e$.
At last, now we know the cause of this soprano's ever increasing mannerisms. LOL !!!!
"In the end, we found out that the victim only appeared drunk, but there was no alcohol in her stomach. That's because the killer used an old trick to make it look like she was drinking: He shoved a champagne bottle up her rear end and got her drunk through the backdoor. No, seriously, the entire case came down to the fact that you can get drunker faster and without the booze breath by ingesting it rectally. This naturally led to the son of an opera singer, because the detectives knew that to save their voices, opera singers would often use the backdoor to get drunk."

What?? Craziness. Good for her, though. That's really distasteful (stereotype propagation much?) and I'm glad she decided not to be a party to it.

Actually I couldn't get what were they talking about...
If they talked about a$$e$ - this must be about whores at Vienna ball and ROH new stage experience on Anna Nicole Smith I could guess...;)
What does Renée have to do with it?... She is in other "decency" category...
As to "back use of alcohool" - tastes differ and probably the authors of that series like this way of drinking contrasting to ordinary people and try to advertise it in their own way ;))))

Very disappointed. The hype was just that. A guest "voice", not an actual appearance?! If one didn`t know from the hype that it was Ms. Fleming....who would have known??

I've heard of navel shots but this is boldly going where no mixologist has gone before. Sopranos as human cocktail shakers ?1? The mind boggles. Puts all those weird cocktails with the word a$$ in them (& there are at least a dozen...) in a much different light...

Oh please - this is disgustingly gross.
If true, it would give a whole new meaning to the expression
"bottoms up" ...
