No, she's not there competing in the Alpine Skiing Downhill. She's Measha and she does not touch her bare feet to snow or other such foolish sports equipment that mere mortals use to entertain themselves and alleviate winter boredom. Goddess Measha glided across the stage at the 2010 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony. The Canadian soprano ~superstar~ sang the Olympic Anthem on Friday and got to hang out with assorted Canadian pride ambassadors Bryan Adams, Nelly Furtado, Sarah McLachlan and k.d. lang.
She sang the crap out of that anthem! Loved it!

I am not personally familiar with this singer, but her hair is really impressive in a super-scary way! I was glad that they had opera represented at the opening ceremony, although that Olympic hymn thing was really unpleasant.

She did a helluva Olympic Hymn performance.

k.d. lang gave the most stirring vocal performance during the opening. Some of the athletes were yawning part way through Measha's rendition of the Olympic Hymn. She sang wonderfully, but the Olympic Hymn is just way too long.
The acrobatic kid that flew through the air during Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" is quite talented. But overall the most effective sequence was the fiddlers representing eastern Canada and the great special affects that accompanied that part of the performance.

Did she sing the Anthem in Greek? I think she did.

Me? I'm waiting for San Remo...

She's fierce. She's the Diana Ross of opera. I wish she'd make the transition to the opera stage so we could see her more often, but she's just too cool to pin down.

Thank god Katherine Jenkins isn't Canadian or she'd be all over this opening ceremony like a bad virus.

She sang the Olympic Hymn in English, not Greek.
The best use of Opera in an Olympic Ceremony had to be the 12 full minutes of Opera sung by Domingo, Carreras and Caballe an friends at the Barcelona Opening Ceremony in 1992.

Where can I find the video of the 2010 Olympic Anthem sung by Measha Brueggergosman? Her performance was absolutely outstanding! I want to experience it again - and share it.
