Starda Vanyra

Brava Opera Chic - one of the best interviews I've seen in a longtime.
Keep up the great work. Maestro Luisotti's comments about the collaborative nature of opera are right on the mark.

Grande Luisotti! I've heard him a few months ago in San Francisco in Trovatore and Otello: he's doing a good job!

Well done, OC! I LOVED reading this interview!
As a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, I was present when Maestro Luisotti conducted TROVATORE, SALOME, and OTELLO -- his conducting of those operas were inspirational.

In the next SFOpera season, the work Puccini considered "the best of my operas," returns home for the first time in three decades in celebration of its 100th anniversary. Nicola Luisotti conducts a rip-snortin' cast led by Deborah Voigt. Should be another winner!

Thanks again, for posting this, OC!

Amber

Very good!!!

Gorgeous interview. He sounds scary smart! I still have yet to catch him in performance, but now I'm really curious. Great job, great questions, and to the conductor, great answers.

I saw his Trovatore that opened the season and I was in awe of his conducting. I like how you included the interview also in Italian. You are too cool for words. For the record, I can't read a single word of that Italian except maybe "Non" and "fragile".

Had the great privilege of working with Maestro Luisotti a few years ago. I was only a member of the chorus, but that experience affected my life as a musician immensely.

The magic he creates in rehearsals is something I never experienced before. There is a sort of an electrical tension in the way he communicates with the ensemble.

Wonderful interview OC!

Luisotti is a rare kind of a conductor, he makes you shudder, first out of fear and respect, and then out of pleasure, and the pleasure is something you never forget. :)

Furst

Great, great stuff OC. Interesting answers as well. You don't see this sort thing in all that many (if, indeed, any) publications that consider themselves sophisticated. We trust OC will give us a review of the Salome (shame about the Michael bailing, though).

BTW, what's "exacerbate" in Italian? We ... umm ... had some slight difficulty in identifying it from the Italian version.

AB

I heard his Otello recently in SF. Really the worst I've heard unfortunately. He is really full of himself too......

Coloratura Tempura

The Attila bits were really interesting, thanks!

DDD

I had the chance to hear him conduct Tosca in his Met debut run with Aprile Millo in the title role. It was memorable!!

Joey

Stellar conducting in this past fall's Trovatore in SF. OC, why are you so damn awesome?!?!
