Sondra Radvanovsky and Julianna Di Giacomo will sing the role of Lina in Verdi’s Stiffelio, replacing Angela Marambio who has withdrawn. Sondra Radvanovsky sings the performances on January 11, 14, and 30 matinee, and Julianna Di Giacomo those on January 19, 23 and 26. Both will be performing the role for the first time at the Met.
Plácido Domingo conducts all six performances of the Giancarlo del Monaco production. In bocca al lupo to the new Linas.
I just bought tickets for the 01/14 performance after a promise to myself that I wouldn't go over 20 this year. However much love for Ms.Radvanovsky compelled me to do it.

Why would Sondra Radvanovsky, who was NOT signed by the Met this year, even consider helping them out????? She's probably the best Verdi soprano around these days and should be a permanent fixture at the Met. This is only my humble opinion, but she sounds to me to be the only soprano today who can carry the mantle of Milanov and Price.

I was very surprised that Sondra Radvanovsky was not originally engaged for this season -- an artist like that should be singing at least 1 role every season at the Met. Now Stiffelio has become a must-see for me.

Sondra Radvanovsky will "shine" in "Stiffelio". I saw her (8 times) in SFO as "Leonara" - and she was amazing! Buy your tickets and enjoy this wonderful soprano's performance. She is the real deal!

I went to high school with Julianna DiGiacomo! Not only is she a fantastic singer, she's a wonderful person. How exciting!

Cause it's not just helping the Met, it's also helping her career.

I was thrilled Saturday when I heard Julianna DiGiacomo sing the role of Lina in the opera, Stiffelio. Her voice was pure and radiant, absolutely glistening in the high tezzatura and so beautifully controlled. I am 82 and used to sing professionally myself many years ago so I truly appreciate a beautiful soprano voice when I hear it. I hope the Met recognizes what a gem she is and stars her again - soon!. The only other soprano who has thrilled me as DiGiacomo did Saturday was Renee Fleming a few weeks ago in Der Rosenkavalier. God bless DiGiacomo. I can't wait to hear her again - at the Met!
