Opera Chic was given the royal treatment by those music-loving Brits at London-based Classical Music Magazine, Rhinegold Publishing, gleefully participating in Barlines Q&A session while wearing Louboutins and a smile. We chatted about Muti's Rome adventures, Krystian Zimerman's selective memory, Englishmen in Milan, and opera's brightest new stars.
Now be nice, support OC and go buy the darn magazine already.

Brilliant replies on everything, Muti and Rome especially. OC, you are an institution. I don't even want to think about opera commentary without your voice.

The difficulty is in the deception of the advertising, as at the moment OC is not resident in Milan. Now, we are well pleased to have OC and in NYC and to have the benefit of her superb reviews from Met and, we assume, further orchestral concerts. Still, we do hope she gets back to Milan at some point not only because we are interested in her perspective on the happenings at La Scala but also because there is a certain cacheassociated with presence there that is attenuated when she is in New York, whatever the merits of her presence in the capital.
Still, we pass on our congratulations even though recognition in the "MSM" is somewhat routine for OC at this stage.

I'm with Furst! Get back to Milan! How we miss your translations and Scala scoop!
But really, how are we expected to read what's on that page with those glamorous gams staring us down? It's just too distracting! OC love forever!

Amazing. You are an opera goddess.

I agree with Furst and YH. Please go back to Milan, but only after you review the CSO concerts with Muti! (which I can't attend, therefore you must fulfill the OC credo "OC was there and you weren't")

Hurrah! I used to work at Rhinegold (on Classical Music Magazine and 'Opera Now'). Good company, doing sterling work for the world of classical music.

O.C. can't cover Bolle in NYC the way she can in Milano and that in itself is reason enough for her to return. Opera Chic Milanese is soooo delectable, so I hope she hies back soon.

OC I really do idolize you. you're an inspiration for us young folks who feel kinda in the super minority for liking opera. :)
More power to you!

ohhh so luvin' the publicity girl! well deserved!
Posted by: flipstinger | October 02, 2009 at 10:39 AM
Well, to be honest we can do without the Bolle coverage and would probably prefer OC to stay in NYC for a couple more months of reviews (Rosenkavalier, 2nd Figaro cast, BPO, others). We hope she enjoys the opera and concert going and whatever other activities are keeping her here.
We do hope she can get back to Milan for the St. Ambrosian festivities though as we would be quite at loss in the absence of her survey of such.
