More of James Ellroy's Beethoven obsession from Tim Mangan (previously blogged here):
This is a shot of Ellroy's apartment, with framed Deutsche Grammophon LP covers:
Oh, and Ellroy -- whose "Blood's A Rover" is about to come out -- was in the house when Krystian Zimerman yelled at his Disney Hall audience.*
Ellroy left the concert hall.
* (Opera Chic then ended on CBC radio debating the matter with Mark Swed)
Look at that jacket, he needs more than Beethoven to pick up women. Dude needs a makeover.

There's something obtuse about framing DG album covers. There's not much art to them. A nice photo, yes, but then 1/3 covered by the standard yellow title box at the top. There are plenty of beautiful classical music LP covers out there, but the ones pictured are just photos of some doods.
