What are you doing for Vogue's Fashion Night Out? The depressed fashion industry is calling on all fashion consumers (from tiny boutique scavengers to department mega-store shoppers) to revisit their budgets by participating in a global happening that takes place this Thursday, September 10th from 6pm-11pm, and involves countless couture & beauty events throughout NYC (and other international fashion capitols). From Molton Brown (we fondly recall long poolside afternoons at the Beverly Hill's Avalon Hotel with MB's amenities in our cabana) to Calypso (next to Loro Piana, you can find some of the best hand-woven cashmeres) to Tom Ford (how can we hate on the man who dresses James Bond?), everyone's participating.
In the world of corporate sponsorships, it'd be predictable for Anna Netrebko to flaunt her Chopard connections or for Katherine Jenkins to lend a capped smile to Montblanc, so it looks like a new heavy-weight has entered the ring. ~Opera star~ Danielle de Niese will hold court in the Van Cleef & Arpels showroom on 744 Fifth Avenue (at 57th Street) for Fashion Night Out's festivities. She'll be iced-out in diamonds and between all that bling, she'll be singing arias from her Mozart Album CD, which drops two days prior to the event. And just for the record, OC's a strictly vintage diamond girl...we don't hate on our girlfriends who get the stamped-out Tiffany & Co princess solitaries, but we're so not down with having conflict diamonds on our conscience nor our karma (nor on our platinum AmEx).
