The LA Phil has made public the program for the October 3 concert that will open Gustavo Dudamel's tenure as the new Music Director: a free Hollywood Bowl concert where Dudi will conduct Beethoven's Ninth (with fireworks). Among the other performers over the long day of music: Flea, who'll flaunt his senior citizen classical music skillz with the Silverlake Conservatory Ensemble.
All the relevant info here.
All that seems to be missing are the "Rockettes" who could be used during
the ninth , to give the work a more
contemporary feeling .Gustavo will
be flailing about like mad-should be
quite a show. How things are dragged
down to peasant level never ceases to amaze. Will fireworks go
off during the ninth ?

Too bad Busby Berkeley can't be here to choreograph it all.

Chris -much neede laugh !!!!!!thanks.
I doubt Busby Berkeley would take it
on -from seeing his work he seems
within his range an artist of integrity who
would not use poor Ludwigs' 9th as a
stalking horse to further his career as it
seems Gustavo does. I was hoping
perhaps the flailing Lang Lang along
with the flailing Gustovo - what a scene!
Even Mr. Berkeley would have been awed . Bet poor Beethoven from wherever regrets writing that 9th.

This was a joke trying to get tickets. I was on ticketmaster exactly at 12:00pm August 1 AND ticketmaster phone line. Tickets were sold out on ticketmaster by 12:05. Apparently there offered pre-internet tickets Jul 31st which was never advertised. I wasted a whole morning waiting to get tickets/
