One week ago, Opera Chic made her inaugural trip to the Nationaltheater München -- where the Bayerische Staatsoper bats at home -- to catch Gatti's sublime control of the Verdi masterpiece, Aida, and to get caught-up in the inevitable drama that followed Angela Gheorghiu singing the lead role in Verdi's La Traviata.
The opera theater crowns the spacious Max Joseph Platz and the monolith contains endless glass chandeliers, gold leaf accents throughout, and polished marble floors. OC was right at home.

The National Theater also had statues of composers and conductors throughout the halls. Here's Beethoven, followed by Knappertsbusch, Carl Maria von Weber and Carl Orff.
