Last night in Rome.
Well, at least it was for charity (a benefit for the Abruzzo earthquake victims).

Watched the whole concert. Really sucked!! She was flat as usual, horribly dressed, and he is the greatest throat singer in the world. I was embarrassed for them both. Bocelli does charity events for 50% less than normal events, so that means he still takes home min. 250.000 EURO. Thanks for nothing!

I have mixed feelings about these events. It's for a good cause, so, to the extent I am happy to see a good turnout and PR. Musically, artistically they're usually not imporant and at least from these clips they didn't do anything that particularly butchered the serious music.
For a popular singer on mic, Bocelli is passable in the operatic selections, like, compared to Sting.
Gheorghiu seems to really know how to cater her singing to the microphone. Not sure if that is really such a good thing though! Her Gianni Schicchi aria seems so mannered. hearing this it is hard to imagine that she is keeping Tosca in her stage repertoire Her voice sounded pretty but light and small but maybe she was just crooning for the mics.
I personally do not care for the short dress on the concert stage - I notice she wore short for a recent Middle East concert too and wonder, is this a new trend that I am unaware of? I think she looks nice with wavy hair.
Not sorry I wasn't there but glad the earthquake victims got helped.

Angela is always elegant concerning her body and dresses but it is too little.
If she had equally elegant manners by not doing everything she can to draw people's attention on her ONLY that would make her a really nice figure on stage.

Well one thing gives me a little secret thrill - finally a singer who holds the cutoff note even longer and later! And since he has a legit reason, I can't hold it against him and can just enjoy hearing someone other than she get the final cutoff ;-)
