That's the way thigns are nowadays. What to do? Aretha sang about RESPECT years ago. Italy has lost all idea of this word. How sad...

I am not a bit surprised, being familiar with Pollini's prima donna behavior.
It is certainly very rude of an audience member to talk during an artist performance, however the performer should certainly rise above the distraction an ignore it for the rest of the public's sake.

This is just a rehearsal, not a performance, and it seems that the man distracting Pollini is one of the technicians involved with the camera work. From what I can make out from the audio, it seems he was clomping around & being otherwise obtrusive. So no member of the paying public was harmed in the making of this video ;-)

It was not a performance but a rehearsal, and the man who got on Pollini's nerves was not an audience member but an operator... I don't know what he was doing but he must have been quite annoying if Abbado too complained about him!

I once saw Yma Sumac stop a show to reprimand a noisy supper club audience who came to gawk at her in her later years.

Abbado? That's Myung Whun-Chung actually

Pollini could've been more graceful. Talent is no excuse for lack of manners - or arrogance, depending on the point of view.

Damn... This kinda reminds me of Bale tirade. XD Except, without the F-bombs being dropped 20-something times. >> I dunno, I'd be pissed too.

Pollini a prima donna? Nonsense. He is among the most humble, genuine, and dedicated of musical giants. Listen more closely: neither he, the conductor, nor the other musicians can believe that this guy and a couple of others out of view are making so much commotion! If you were trying to make poetry out of that cadenza and some clod was talking loudly as he walked by within ten feet of you, you'd be annoyed too! Comparing him to Christian Bale is something like comparing Yo-Yo Ma to Eminem
