In beautiful Naples Teatro San Carlo presents a new production of Die Entfuehrung aus dem Serail tonight. Director Damiano Michieletto revived Mozart's opera, complete with Pasha Selim's floating harem. Play on, playa. Alexandra Kurzak sings Blonde, Jane Archibald sings Konstanze, and Yi Jie Shi sings Belmonte, and it's conducted by Jeffrey Tate.
We would have liked to see more Emilio Pucci and Fendi resort gear, big Chanel sunglasses & Missoni wraps ...but we'll take the leopard-print & fishnets because hey, this is supposed to be a Turkish harem, not Côte d'Azur.
