The sorry state of classical music media coverage in the American media has been sadly confirmed over this long Thanksgiving weekend when two former child prodigies of the piano who later became two of the biggest conductors in the world played together a piano recital in a blizzard of four hand greatness.
To OC's knowledge, only a British paper -- not even a general interest newspapaer but a business paper -- published a review of the Barenvine Boys event.
We hereby thank the Financial Times and, especially, one of OC's icons, Martin Bernheimer, to bother going to Carnegie Hall and letting the rest of us know what went down.
But they told us all about Wynona Ryder's "misplaced" Bulgari diamonds. Yay for the media!

BARENVINE!!! Hotter than Brangelina!
Seriously, wish I could have gone to this. Even though it's only 90 miles to the north my finances have already been stretched to the limit. (Managed to find a little gelt for Dudamel and the Israeli Philharmonic at the Kimmel but that was as much as I could find under the sofa cushions.)

I don't know how I would get by reading classical music reviews if it wasn't for the sparkling wit and clever word plays of Mr. Bernheimer. Really, he's the only relevant critic in the NYC area that we have. Don't leave us, Martin!
