David Hansen: Boldy Going Where No Man Has Gone Before --> The Hawtest Countertenor on the Planet!

One of O.C.'s bambi dearests linked her to the site of Australian countertenor, David Hansen, and we're not gonna play...we're totes sweating him. We're sort of willing to forgive the fact that he's a ~male soprano~ with his off-tha-charts hawtness...because let's face it, there's nothing really all that secksy about countertenors.

But this 27-year-old Sydney native slays us with his falsetto. His repertoire includes performances in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, Handel’s Giulio Cesare, Thomas Adés' The Tempest (for Santa Fe Opera), and Monteverdi's L'Orfeo & L'incorinazione di Poppea. Hmmm, he can Dido my Aeneas anytime he wants ^____^

Remember, a hawt countertenor has a price: our innocent hearts.

He's cute, but I could do without the bedhead, it's almost 2009, it got old.

Count me out. I don't care about countertenor voice. It's unatural, tedious, monotonal and momochromatic; and it has nothing to do physiologically and anatomically with the castrato voice. The pitch of the singing voice depends on the length and thickness of the vocal cords. Castration arrests the developemnt of the vocal cords that remain at the boy-soprano size or those of a mezzo or even soprano's. The vocal cords of a countertenor look like those of a grown man. I'll take a mezzo for any castrato roles. They exhibit much better coloration. The difference between a mezzo and a castrato is that because the rest of the body grows, castrati could sustain a vocal line longer due to icreased lung capacity. Countertenors can to that too, but rather bluntly.

eh... Il Complesso Barocco isn't a work by Händel.
The guy's got a voice, nice to listen to, for my ears his sound is better than many females'.

"because let's face it, there's nothing really all that secksy about countertenors."
