In her one-girl campaign to spread the good news of the (mostly forgotten) wonder of Alexander Zemlinsky's music, Opera Chic is today happy to show Frühlingsbegräbnis. That is not just a heartbreakingly beautiful piece of music, as most of poor Alex's artistic output is. Its premiere also represents a milestone in twentieth-century music. And Alma had the hots for Alex, though he resembled a cross between a toad and a beetle. So there is hope for anyone ! Great clip, more please. There are at least 2 Zem fans out here.
