Mr. Gelb's attire in your photo (with Anna Netrebko) may look like it came from the Salvation Army, but his achievements have been ground-breaking, for the benefit of us all. It is because of him, and his negotiations with the Musician's Union, that we are now able to access Met broadcasts via Sirius - not to mention the HD film presentations at the theatres. At no time in the Met's history, have performances from the Met (as well as their previously well-guarded achives) been so accessible to the public. For this alone, we all need to be eternally grateful. He's a genius!
