It's A Boy.

Babyschrott

It's a boy.

(And they got married, too. They got their wedding bands in Dubai -- and one hopes her corporate sponsor, a famous jeweler, gave them at least a discount).

What a delightful surprise. Though it would have been nicer to not know as there are so few surprises to life these days.

Such a grounded couple, you can't help but think only the best for them.

that baby is balding

What kind of ceremony, if any, did they have?

How do you say Mazel tov in Russian?

You don't. As that is when they start to say "Dirty Zhid!" And it doesn't stop with words.

Please read the piece (with blogged responses translated from Russian) about the brutal level of official religious prejudice and violence in this week's NYT -- you'll see. And, no, at last interview, Ms. Nobrainko's father had no idea Mr. Schrott is not Russian Orthodox.

Remember that weird passive aggressive interview Paris Kremlin gave last summer where she affirmed her affair with Villaizon in a way which could only damage him, his wife and his children?

It was meant to hurt someone.

This seems similar.

... Observant Jude ...

This may come as a shock to you, but Miss Netrebko is not the source of all that ails religious Russia as you attempt lamely to purvey. She sings opera for a living.... your at the OPERA Chic website btw.

Mr Jude, would you please elaborate on which interview you mean exactly?

What I want to know is - as Parsifal tells us - Why has Erwin cancelled the San Carlo Lombardi (I have tickets for the 24th and am disappoited!!!) and re the same opera it appears that Tito Beltran is still scheduled to sing???? I thought he was in jail?

For your information, Tito is not in jail and is at home in Gothenburg waiting for his appeal to the Hovratten ( High Court), which has an excellent chance of being successful, given the irregularities in his trial, the total lack of evidence and the collusion between prosection witnesses. However, given the state of his health after what he went through at the trial earlier this year, I personally doubt that he will be in a position to fulfill his San Carlo contract. I would be pleasantly surprised if he did so.

I guess for the same reasons that Erwin has cancelled the June recital in London effectively clearing his schedule for the next two months. Presumably to be with his beloved? Heavens above, the woman's pregnant not ill. OK they may want to be together but if the rest of us and our bebedaddies did the same during our pregnancies the world would grind to a halt. And in the future? Take a look at their respective schedules for early 2009. Are we to expect a deluge of cancellations from either or both? I would not be inclined to book tickets to hear either of them for fear of disappointment.

Tito Beltran? I'm amazed that also-ran third rate excuse for a Big Brother contestant actually had a career!

N.

Dorabella,

You took the words right outta my mouth! I bought tickets to the Cadogan Hall concert back in January, and for some reason it was nagging me to cancel the order. I did and got my refund - which was perfect timing as I thought Erwin would cancel.

I never thought I would see the day when he cancelled so much. He used to be so dependable. Anna seems to soil everything she comes in contact with. I bet her hormones are kicking in and she is putting the pressure on him to be with her. Prima donna indeed. WIth none of the substance to back it up. Not that I put the blame all on her - I am totally disgusted with Erwin for picking her to marry and have a child with. I only hope this boy will not overshadow the lovely girl he already has...he is already getting enough press and he has not even be hatched yet!

NHB, your personal attack on Tito Beltran is highly amusing given your own lack of an international career, from the information listed on your webpage.

Never heard her. But I will today since the Met is putting I Puritani over PBS. She is singing with one Eric Cutler of whom I have never heard. We'll see. I liked the YouTube excerpts sung by the unsurpassable JDF and Maria Cantererola (have I got that last name right?) and will use those as a yardstick for the Netrebko/Cutler version.

Sorry, the name should have been Canterero. Having seen and heard the MET production of I Puritani I now know what the fuss is all about. Netrebko is something else. A female JDF perhaps, superb singing and great beauty. But a bit (quite a bit) more ego, I would guess, from watching her intermission interview. Cutler was pretty good too. In some ways his larger voice fits the role better than JDF. Both of them skip the famous F above high C in the last aria however. Better safe than sorry.

Since praising Netrebko's performance in Puritani I have read criticisms of her coloratura. Her trills aren't trilly enough, she scoops to her high notes, and her voice is not agile enough. Am I missing something? I confess to not being very familiar with the opera, I last heard it in 1956 in Chicago with Callas singing, and memory fades. I would appreciate other expert opinions.
