Everybodies a critic...
John Adams is one of the few composers of today whose works will hold their value for the next half dozen centuries; the corridor of time will show that. Composers historically rewrite/revise operas until they feel perfection has been achieved.. SO those who feel the second act dragged, may have their hopes fulfilled..or not; that is for Mr. Adams to determine.
I must be off my game to have missed this performance. Thanks for the notation OC.

Damn I remember Gerald Finley when he was a boy soprano with our church choir in Ottawa - and now... he really is an exceptional singer/actor.

Ever since I listened to him and Renee Fleming singing Massenet's "Thais" in theatre du Chatelet in Paris I simply love them both. Hope to get the chance to see that opera on DVD at least.
Gerald ROCKS!
