Rupert Christiansen, that smartypants, cranks out a weirdly sweet Valentine to La Ceci in the Daily Telegraph.
(Obviously he sometimes wants, and we quote, "to smack her", because he never went shoe shopping with her, and that makes him angry).
Anyway, we join him in a triple yay for La Ceci.

She's rich, famous, Italian, hot. I'd totally bang her. Bad picture or not.

Is that seriously a picture of her, or did you alter it or something...? I mean I know Ceci makes some bizarre faces...but damn...

Is this the most flattering fotki of her you could find? The curves are nice, but oh, that face? May it never droop!

'unarguably' that's right ! and I'll try to send you a nice photo of her at Pleyel on that day celebration of Malibran with Maxime Vengerov and Lang Lang in the morning, (could it be possible ?)the Cenerentola in the afternoon (No ticket for the night gala concert available ..that march 24th , a long way to go ...)Did you write about James Valenti ,I went through your chronicles and was not successful .Saw him in Marseilles in Pinkerton:what an attractive voice ,something of Corelli !(nice young man to talk to as well!)OC,I loved your opera fashion display !

Oh most telling of ironies, oh most injurious of indications of the state of affairs: an ad for Katherine Jenkins's newest *such and such* next to an article about La Bartoli (whose new recording I suspect I will be given for Christmas, along with JDF's Arias for Rubini. Why? Because my family have probably had enough of my Facebook statuses making reference to that and more).
Anyway, you gotta hand it to ol' Rupert. I often want to hit him, but he's probably London's most readable opera critic.

I'd make love to her in a minute! I have a thing for hot Italians, especially ones who sing! It's just a bad picture, not what she really looks like. She's just caught up in the moment - in the throes of song. Can you imagine what she's like in the throes of ecstasy?? :)

I'd do her, and I'm gay

She's still hotter than Nebrenko (sp?, IDC)

I always thought little Rupert had a tin ear and little knowledge of the art of singing but
certainly not wanting in rude ,ignorant review
writing, a specialty of his .Ms. Bartoli is quite a good singer ,but limited .She is always
Bartoli, while charming in small doses she becomes tedious after a time. The great singer-artist is of course Ewa Podles
who can on any given day surpass the technical feats of Ms. Bartoli, but what is more important move us to the depths of
our soul . It is a difference ,but a major one.
