Thanks for the recap, OC! I so hate myself that I totally forgot taping/listening to it :(

Thanks for the recap!!! I feel bad that I'm pretty close to NYC but was too lazy to get up that early for tickets-- but I'm too young to have ever heard Bubbles live, so I felt like it wasn't really an event for me.

Are you going to the Lucia dress BTW? I'm lingering by my computer now to reserve tickets in a few minutes.

Excellent!

You can be my stylist, OC! :-)

Thanks for the recap; I was busy looking at overpriced apartments all day...

Thanks for telling us all what they were wearing-I enjoyed that.

Oh you have much better eyes than I and a better memory than I did when I posted last night after 12 hours of standing around and several bloody mary's. Thank you for the details. What a beautiful day it was!

@ Siris: you're welcome!
@ Micaëla: yeah, she was way before my time, too. Go to the dress rehearsal (if there are still tickets)! I already have mine!
@ CCCTTT: *see reply to Siris*
@ ACB: is there any other kind? ;-D
@ barb: i'm a very visual person. bloomberg needs a stylist like i need coffee rite now.
@ SarahB: i read on your blog about your experience! What madness! I was sitting on the opposite side of you, and I heard that commotion in the way back during Kissinger's appearance. Thanks for the clarification! I figured it was a senile guy yelling to his wife to repeat what kissinger said. Guess not! Did you hear like at least 3 people forgot to turn off their phones. wtf?

I am so delighted to read your wonderful, funny and touching remarks on the BS Tribute. I so wish I could have been to NY to be there in person. BS was such a major influence on my life and love of music and opera... I so enjoyed being in the same life as she. Many thanks.

I'm proud of whoever the old gentleman was in the back who yelled, "He has blood on his hands" when the war criminal Henry Kissinger came onstage. I loved Beverly Sills and she really didn't need the equivalent of Dr. Strangelove to be her final eulogist. Henry Kissinger should be shunned with cries of "Shame!" from the public at large wherever he goes for the rest of his natural life.

By the way, as an old typesetter, I've come across the "public/pubic" typo quite a few times. And Spellcheck will never catch it. My favorite was the San Francisco Chronicle quoting a lesbian legislator in Northern California as wanting to "work tirelessly for the pubic interest." Don't we all?

Cell phone abusers in the theatre need to be lynched. Also in our row was an old lady who said at the beginning, I DON'T HAVE MY HEARING AID IN!!!! Her weirdo daughter proceeded to recap the entire thing to her. Oy. Are you going to the open house? We'll be there.

Did anyone tape it? Would love to download an MP3 of it if anyone could post it (or e-mail me directly)
