Frittoli Floods The Lake
Ah to be in beautiful Stresa tonight, eating some delicious pesce di lago at Opera Chic's favorite little restaurant on Lake Maggiore after the performance of superhawttie Barbara Frittoli, who'll bust out some Lied awesomeness with il maestro Gianadrea Noseda, that underrated, talented conductor -- OC so wishes she was there.
And next Saturday, in Stresa, Frittoli will be Vitellia.
*checks Alitalia schedule*
Dear OC,
What do you make of the fact that La Frittoli has pulled out of her Onegin performances in Chicago with the excuse that "although she has been studying the role for over a year she just hasn't been able to learn it." !!!!

OC sides proudly with Team Tebaldi and Team Luciano and Team Bergonzi: if you're not comfortable with a different language, and a different style, don't do it. Goodness knows we have too many singers who think they can do everything and then just mangle diction, flow, and their linea di canto. Even many Italian recitativi are eseentially incomprehensible for Italian natural-born speakers, and that's just ridiculous. More powah to La Frittolina for having the guts and the class to avoid a bad show
