A Toscanini Follow-Up: To Follow-Up

One of Opera Chic's dear reader, fignaz, highlighted a thorough clip (titled "Viva Toscanini") from Rai's Porta a Porta in the comments of this post, that merits repeating in case anyone missed it.

Host Bruno Vespa, in the show that aired on January 16, collects the anecdotes of Luciano Pavarotti, Riccardo Muti, Carla Fracci, Barbara Frittoli, Giulietta Simionato, and a few other critics, historians, and singers, as they share their recollections of Toscanini.

It clocks-in at 1.5 hours, and aside from glimpsing rare clips of the Maestro conducting, it is worth the commitment if only to witness the monstrosity of a beaver hat that Giulietta Simionato donned. The clip can be found here, and then you click on the link that says, "VIVA TOSCANINI - 16/01".
