IM IN UR OPERAHOUSE POWNING UR ARIAS

Brava Opera Chic! But do get Renée's new Homage CD - I'm sure you will be able to stomach it, especially the Korngold which is especially exquisite. In New York last January we were treated to an up close look at that Ferré concoction of a gown - see my post about that evening at http://sarahbsadventures.blogspot.com/search?q=STOP+THREE+OF+DIVA+

very funny, cocodrillo: I think that was the tone that La Fleming was trying to convey to La Scala. She was all like I PWN U ANTEDILUVIAN ITALIANS!

Sarah: thanks for recommending La Fleming's newest releases. I need that push! Your post on your blog was exquisite! Well done, and wonderful that you reported with pictures and stories. I would have never known that her dress was really plumb-colored! It was so hard to tell in the spotlight. Thanks again for that anecdote!

That picture of her at the top looks like Madeline Kahn got up like the opera singer in Citizen Kane surrounded by the animals from the NYCO Cunning Little Vixen

ljc: very colorful description! :)

This is my first post on your blog, which I have been reading with great pleasure for quite some time (unfortunately I don't have time to read everything you post, so this is why this comment comes a bit late)...
The aria that Fleming sang as an encore and which you assume it was from Rheingold it is actually Marietta's Lied from "Die Tote Stadt" by Korngold, which was recommended to you as a good enough reason to buy the Homage CD... I will not be as enthousiastic. she does have the ideal voice for that role, but she does with Korngold what she does with all other composers - she has this inexplicable desire/urge/compulsion to collaborate with the poor guy, especially in terms of rubatos, holding some notes much longer than it is written in the score... she would be sooooooo perfect if she would just sing the notes as they were written...
and the second comment is a sort of request. I have found pictures on you blog of Ascanio in Alba, but no comments. How were the youngsters? any hopes for future stars from the Accademia? I hear the tenor is pretty good looking (it never hurts!) LOL
